🎯 Selecting recipients and targets in TikTask: a complete guide

Learn how recipient and target selection works across chats, contacts, files, profiles, posts, and manual entry in TikTask.

selection recipients targets tutorial

Selecting who receives your message or which content to interact with is at the heart of TikTask. This guide explains all selection methods: manual, in-app, multi-select, file import and profile/post capture, for every channel.

ℹ️
Quick answer
TikTask selection is action-first. Choose what you want to do first, then choose the channel, then pick recipients or targets using the methods that channel supports.

Action first, then channel

TikTask follows an action-first workflow. Start by choosing what you want to do—Send Message, Post Status/Story, Add Like, Add Comment, Follow, Create Poll or Send SMS—then pick the channel. Each action determines the selection methods available.

In-app selection (chats, contacts & groups)

Channels like WhatsApp, WhatsApp Business, Telegram, Signal and Viber let you select chats, groups and contacts directly from inside the app flow.

  • WhatsApp, WhatsApp Business and Telegram support multi-select directly from the in-app picker.
  • Signal and Viber support chats, groups and contacts, but not multi-select from the app UI.
  • Some actions, like Status / Story, use a destination rather than a normal contact picker.

Selecting posts and profiles (Instagram & X)

When automating likes, comments or follows on Instagram or X (Twitter), you target posts or profiles rather than chats.

  • To select a post: open the post in Instagram or X, tap Share and choose TikTask. The link is captured automatically.
  • To select a profile: simply open the user’s profile. TikTask will detect the handle or username when you return to the app.
  • Instagram supports automatic account switching and multiple iterations; X does not.

Manual entry and contact lists

For Gmail, Google Messages and Samsung Messages, you enter recipients manually or pick them from your phone’s contacts. TikTask also provides manual entry for WhatsApp unsaved numbers when needed.

Importing recipients from a file

When dealing with larger workflows, import a CSV or XLSX file containing your recipients. Import is channel-specific inside the task, so unrelated values are skipped for the currently selected channel.

Recipient lists

Create reusable recipient lists under the Recipient Lists section. Lists help you segment customers by category—such as leads, VIP customers or team members—and save time when scheduling future tasks.

FAQ

Can I select multiple recipients from a chat list? +
Yes. WhatsApp, WhatsApp Business and Telegram allow you to multi-select chats. Long-press a chat, then tap additional chats to add them.
How do I capture an Instagram post link? +
Open the post, tap the Share button and choose TikTask. TikTask captures the link and returns you to the task setup.
What if my channel doesn’t support in-app selection? +
For Gmail, Samsung Messages and Google Messages, simply type the email or phone number or import a list from a file.
Does file import work the same way on every channel? +
No. Import is channel-specific inside the task, so TikTask uses the fields that match the currently selected channel and skips unrelated values.
Can I reuse recipient groups? +
Yes. Save your selection as a recipient list and reuse it across multiple tasks.
